Bayhealth works diligently to distinguish its facilities as a regional health system that consistently delivers an exceptional patient experience. The healthcare organization offers a safe place where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) patients can access individual and family-based care with respect and honesty. Our staff and physicians have been trained in LGBTQ+ cultural competency and in the unique health needs of the LGBTQ+ community.
The spiritual component to your health is important to us. Bayhealth’s pastoral care service can assist you with your distinct spiritual needs.
Bayhealth’s High School Wellness Centers provide a safe and inclusive environment for patients who may identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, providing licensed mental health providers and nurse practitioners who are trained to assist in the needs of patients' emotional, physical and identity health.

Healthcare Equality Index
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation is the educational arm of the country’s LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. The HRC Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) is a unique annual survey that encourages equal care for LGBTQ+ Americans by evaluating inclusive policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees. Bayhealth meets non-discrimination training criteria that demonstrate its commitment to equitable, inclusive care for LGBTQ+ patients and their families, who can face significant challenges in securing the quality healthcare and respect they deserve.
The staff at Bayhealth is driven to earn designation every year and continue to work hard to evolve with the dynamic needs of our LGBTQ+ patients. If you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community and your healthcare needs are not being met, we are here for you.
Visit hrc.org/hei for more information about HEI.
