Community Provides Record-Setting $100,000 Support to Bayhealth Cancer Institute
Bayhealth Cancer Institute is pleased to announce its tenth annual Runway of Hope fundraiser raised $100,308 in support of programs for its cancer survivors and patients, thanks to the generous outpouring of support from our community.
This record-setting amount raised by the Runway of Hope – which featured both a silent and live auction, a fashion show and the inspiring stories of Bayhealth Cancer Institute patients – will be used to support the Bayhealth Cancer Institute’s survivorship program and Helping Hands Fund.
“Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, our community banded together to support our cancer patients like they never have before. And on behalf of our patients and everyone else at the Bayhealth Cancer Institute, we want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s event for their amazing generosity and support,” said Bayhealth Cancer Institute Executive Director and Senior Director of Operations, Oncology Service Line John Shevock, FACHE, FACMPE.
The survivorship program helps cancer patients as they shift from cancer treatment to cancer survivorship. Working with the patient’s oncologist, a nurse navigator creates a personalized plan for the patient that includes information on follow-up care and offers referrals for on-going counseling and any other resources the patient needs. The Helping Hands Fund provides financial assistance to qualifying cancer patients during their cancer treatment journey.
